LYRICS
Some say I live in a house that’s way too big,
But I don’t see it that way.
Just buying time for the one that I love,
Yeah, the one that’s coming my way.
Gonna work until the end of the day
On every room in this house.
Clean it out real good, paint it nice,
Purge every pesky mouse.
I’m creating the home of someone’s dreams
Where love grows over the wall.
Where the sun shines in
and joy pours out
And the neighborhood gathers ‘round.
This home is where a life begins,
Where happiness comes and goes.
I’m fixing this house of someone’s dreams
‘Til that someone knocks on the door.
Knock, knock, knock.
Oh, oh, oh….
Knock, knock, knock.
Oh, oh, oh….
I got this house ‘cause it needs some love
And I have plenty to give.
Bit of TLC, a little help
From the outside in, oh yeah.
Gotta fix that porch where I can count
All my blessings go by.
Then I’ll mend the fence and open the gate.
‘Til all my tears run dry.
I’m creating the home of someone’s dreams
Where love grows over the wall.
Where the sun shines in
and joy pours out
And the neighborhood gathers ‘round.
This home is where a life begins,
Where happiness comes and goes.
I’m fixing this house of someone’s dreams
‘Til that someone knocks on the door.
Knock, knock, knock.
Oh, oh, oh….
Knock, knock, knock.
Oh, oh, oh….
When I’m done outside, I’ll head right in,
Break some walls and move some doors.
Then I’ll contemplate, illuminate,
Rearrange from ceiling to floor.
When demo work and cleaning’s done,
And everything feels brand new.
That’s when I’ll be ready to say,
“This home is ready for you.”
I’m creating the home of someone’s dreams
Where love grows over the wall.
Where the sun shines in
and joy pours out
And the neighborhood gathers ‘round.
This home is where a life begins,
Where happiness comes and goes.
I’m fixing this house of someone’s dreams
‘Til that someone knocks on the door.
Knock, knock, knock.
Oh, oh, oh….
(on my heart)
Knock, knock, knock.
Oh, oh, oh….
(on my heart)
This home is where a life begins,
Where happiness comes and goes.
I’m ready now to fulfill your dreams
So come on open the door.
Knock, knock, knock.
Oh, oh, oh….
Knock on my heart.
Come on open the door.
Yeah.
On my heart.
And I’m ready now to fulfill your dreams.…
So come on in, I’m yours.
I’m yours.
Yeah, come on in, I’m yours.

About this song
Home of Someone’s Dreams, featuring Julia’s vocals, is the ultimate fixer upper song for those who can relate to buying or owning a home in a period of transition. While figuring out the direction of my own life, I put much love and energy into home improvement, not knowing if I was going to keep my house, sell it, or welcome someone else inside. In this song, the home emerges as a metaphor for the heart. This is the fastest I’ve ever written a song…in three hours, right after my contractor finished a two-month renovation project. It’s my reply to all the people who have said to me, “It’s such a big home for one person.”
